Star of the week: Murtaza Bana

The week of 18th February 2013 Murtaza Bana from Kg 2 was our 'Star of the Week'. Murtaza carried out all the activities that were in the program. On Friday the stars were honored with a certificate during Friday activity, their parents were also invited to grace the occassion.

Star of the week: Insiyah Raghib

The week of 11th February 20 Insiyah Raghib from Kg 2 was our 'Star of the Week'. Insiyah carried out all the activities that were in the program. On Friday the stars were honored with a certificate during Friday activity, their parents were also invited to grace the occassion.

Friday Activity - Making Kalamro!

For our Friday activity on 8th February 2013, Muniraben Moiz demonstrated how to make Kalamro. She related this to our Senses project (sense of taste) and also because we were celebrating Milad un Nabi this month of Rabi ul Awal. She demonstrated step by step how to go about making the kalamro. Children also learnt new sight words that were used to describe the ingredients and methods used to cook the kalamro.

 Step one: You soak rice in water overnight

Step two: You then boil the rice and mash it

Step three: You add the ingredients into the mashed rice (Yogurt, sugar, sweet milk, fresh cream)

 

 

Step four: You mix everything together until well blended

All the children of the nursery got a turn to mix the kalamro

 

 

 

 

 

Finally, the yummy kalamro decorated with almonds, being served at breaktime to the children

The week of 4th February 2013 Hussein Dosajee from Kg 2 was our 'Star of the Week'. Hussein carried out all the activities that were in the program. On Friday the stars were honored with a certificate during Friday activity, their parents were also invited to grace the occassion.

Games to help your child with reading the "sight words"

1. Bingo! write sight words on a paper. As you call out each word ask your child to mark it.
2. Memory Game! The traditional game of memory. Make flash cards of sight words where their are two cards of the same word. Arrange them turned down. Your child has to find its match by turning over the card.
3. Have your child copy write with markers, chalk, crayons..etc
4. Provide your child with an old magazine or newspaper. Tell him/her to cut out any sight words he/she can find. Or if you have a highlighter ask your child to highlight the words he finds!
5. When you read the library book with your child sitting next to you. Encourage him/her to look for any words he/she can read.

Please ensure you return the reading book with the record keeping card every Monday.

Karzan Hasanah cards and money will be collected every Friday.

You can send money every Friday for our school's sadaka and nazrul makam collection. This is an exercise carried out to help your child learn its importance.

Kindly send an old oversize short sleeve shirt for your child to wear during painting. Please ensure it is always in the bag for your child to use. Wash during the weekends.

Every Friday we shall have our Library Day where your child will bring a story book home. Kindly read the story to your child and return back on the next Friday without fail in order for your child to get another one. Any damaged or lost book will have to be replaced.

P.E. will take place every Monday. Kindly ensure your child wears the P.E. uniform under the school uniform and comes wearing sports shoes that day.

Swimming will take place every Wednesday. Kindly make sure your child wears the swimsuit under the school uniform to save changing time. Also send arm bands and swimming cap if available.

Human Body Parts.

Our new project after fruits and vegetables is the parts of the human body. The children, before closing for the holiday's, learnt about the basic parts of the human body where the then drew each other in parteners for their art activity. Next we learnt about the skeleton. After that we learnt about the basic organs and its functions. These are some of the activities that we carried out in class on the subject.
